The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course is ideal for smaller workplaces that present few health and safety risks.

This course enables you to meet the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, which says that employers should provide a safe environment for their employees.

Peopletime offer this HSE certificated course for up to 12 candidates at a time in an open course format making it ideal for small employers to send one or two employees along to be taught basic first aid by our highly qualified, friendly tutor.

Who Is The Course For?

The HSE Emergency First Aid at Work training is usually suited for first aiders in low/medium risk working environments.  The EFAW training course is also suitable for individuals who want or require training for personal or professional development.

Duration

This is a full 1 day (6 contact hours) course.

Course Outline

The content of the EFAW course provides emergency lifesaving first aid: It includes the following with lots of hands on practice:

  • Health and safety (first aid) regulations
  • Managing an incident
  • The priorities of first aid
  • Treatment of an unconscious casualty
  • Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Fainting
  • Shock
  • Choking
  • Seizures
  • Bleeding
  • Common workplace injuries

Certification

On successful completion of the HSE Emergency First Aid at Work training course, candidates will receive the HSE Approved, nationally recognised, Emergency First Aid at Work – EFAW Certificate. This certificate is valid for 3 years although the HSE strongly recommend a yearly half day update.
