This Emergency First Aid for Schools Training Course can normally accommodate up to 12 candidates, however we understand that due to time constraints and the number of pupils some schools require larger groups to be trained, we can accommodate this.
Successful candidates will receive a certificate of attendance that is valid for 3 years. During the course delegates will have the opportunity to practice CPR on child manikins and learn how to carry out appropriate First Aid for the most common injuries that may occur to children whilst at school. This course is delivered in one day
We enable staff to respond to an emergency independently and we run through a number of scenarios so they have hands-on practice working as part of a team. This course is part theory, part practical, interactive and enjoyable. The one day emergency first aid for schools’ course is delivered at your own venue by a paediatric (child) specialist and includes:
- Use of first aid equipment, incident recording, hygiene and prevention of cross infection
- Managing emergencies
- Managing an unconscious casualty and seizures
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for adults and children
- Managing choking
- Control of bleeding
- Treating shock
- Anaphylactic reactions
- Head Injuries
- Fractures and sprains
- Managing minor injuries: (cuts, grazes, bruises, eye Injuries, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
- Medical conditions specific to the needs of pupils/children as time allows
Successful attendees will be issued with a manual and an Emergency First Aid for Schools certificate valid for 3 years.
